Funder: Pasold Research Fund
Due Dates: Rolling (submit at least 80 days before the activity starts)
Funding Amounts: Up to £750
Summary: Supports small textile-history research projects, preliminary work for larger funding applications, and conference attendance.
Key Information: Textile history must be central to the work, and retrospective applications are not accepted.
The Pasold Research Fund supports high-quality research across all branches of textile history, including dress and fashion history and multidisciplinary approaches. Research Activity Grants fund small, self-contained projects, with applications encouraged for work producing a lasting outcome such as an article, book chapter, exhibition or similar output. Conservation-related research leading to publications is also supported.
The programme also funds preliminary research and meetings to prepare more substantial applications to national and international funding bodies. This support is intended to help develop coherent projects with potential. A further strand supports conference attendance, with different conference-location and travel rules for UK and non-UK residents. Grants cover research expenses rather than salaries; the small-project strand is not intended to part-finance a larger project.
