Funding Amounts: 100% of travel and subsistence costs covered per claim; only for eligible, approved observing trips; typical annual cap for claims per group is £7,500.
Summary: Supports UK researchers with competitively awarded telescope time to claim travel and subsistence expenses for visits to eligible astronomy facilities.
Key Information: Claims only for researchers without a current PATT travel grant; prior approval required before travel.
This opportunity enables UK-based researchers who have been awarded observing time at eligible astronomy facilities to claim travel and subsistence costs necessary for their visits. The scheme is managed by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) under UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and is intended for individuals who do not already hold, or have access to, a PATT travel grant at their institution. Claims are only supported for competitively awarded science observation time at telescopes directly funded by the STFC or approved by the Panel for the Allocation of Telescope Time (PATT). In exceptional cases, expenses for data handling or reduction visits may be considered with prior approval.
