The Seismological Society of America (SSA) administers the Paul Andrew Spudich Travel Grants to support student and early-career members studying earthquake source physics or ground motion prediction. The program funds travel to scientific meetings directly connected to these topics, rather than research projects themselves. Travel to seismological conferences worldwide is supported to foster scientific exchange.
Established through SSA’s Paul Andrew Spudich Fund, the program honors the late seismologist’s life and contributions to these fields during his career with the U.S. Geological Survey. SSA welcomed the first applications in February 2024. Past recipients have attended conferences, workshops, and a scientific school in Japan, France, and Turkey.
