    Description

The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD), through its School Safety and Security Committee, administers this joint Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) and Building Opportunities Through Out-of-School Time (BOOST) solicitation. It supports local strategies addressing community violence across Pennsylvania, from upstream prevention for at-risk youth to intervention with people at highest risk of violence involvement.

Supported work includes mentoring, experiential learning, street outreach, hospital-based intervention, reentry, trauma-informed services, and local coordination. BOOST supports structured before-school, after-school, and summer activities with engaged mentors and evidence-based or evidence-informed practices. These programs strengthen social, emotional, academic, or career readiness, reduce negative behaviors, and provide safe environments. Community violence includes intentional interpersonal violence in areas with high firearm-related violent crime or injury rates.
