Description
The Alan Pearsall Bequest and the Institute of Historical Research (IHR) offer two one-year postdoctoral visiting fellowships in naval and maritime history. Research may address any aspect of the field, broadly understood, anywhere in the world, from the fall of the Roman Empire in the West to the present day. The fellowship supports a new project rather than further development of an existing thesis.
The programme helps early-career historians develop their research experience and prepare for careers within or beyond academia. Fellows undertake historical research and writing, or significant new public or policy engagement based on their research. Based at the IHR, they have access to scholarly resources, seminars, training, and mentorship from academics and staff across the University of London’s School of Advanced Study.
