Description
The Alan Pearsall Bequest and the Institute of Historical Research (IHR), part of the University of London’s School of Advanced Study, offer two one-year postdoctoral visiting fellowships in naval and maritime history. The programme welcomes work on any aspect of the subject, in its broadest sense, anywhere in the world, from the fall of the Roman Empire in the West to the present day.
The fellowships help early-career historians develop their research experience and take their next career steps, within academia or other sectors. Fellows undertake a new project involving historical research and writing, or significant public or policy engagement based on their research, rather than developing an existing thesis. The IHR provides mentorship, library resources, seminars, training, and connections beyond academia.
