The Pediatric Pharmacy Association (PPA) Small Research Grant supports health services research on neonatal and/or pediatric medication use conducted by pharmacists. Its primary goal is to improve the safe and effective use of medications in children. Projects may address a broad range of medication-use topics, including technology, medication safety, and pharmacotherapy.
The grant funds specific research projects rather than providing long-term support for research programs. Past funded work includes neonatal antibiotic dosing, developmental pharmacokinetics, kidney injury associated with vancomycin monitoring, and medication dispensing during the COVID pandemic. Members of PPA’s Research Committee review proposals and select awardees. The Pediatric Small Research Grant and Neonatal Small Research Grant merged in 2024.
