Key Information: Applicants must hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent and be eligible to apply through their host institution.
The Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance (PeDRA) and Gorlin Syndrome Alliance (GSA) jointly fund high-impact research addressing pediatric basal cell carcinoma in Gorlin syndrome. The program aims to improve diagnosis, treatment, and quality of life for affected children and families, including the burdens of recurrent tumors, lifelong surveillance, scarring, procedural fatigue, and psychosocial anxiety.
Supported work may be basic, translational, clinical, epidemiologic, or patient-oriented. Topics include early-onset tumor biology, disease modifiers, recurrence, prevention and photoprotection, pediatric surveillance and biopsy standards, more tolerable treatments, and patient-centered outcomes. Clinical research is strongly encouraged, particularly studies improving care pathways, identifying unmet management needs, assessing multidisciplinary care models, or generating foundational data for prospective clinical trials.
