The Wolf Humanities Center at the University of Pennsylvania offers one-year research fellowships to Penn dissertation-level graduate students in the humanities. Fellows pursue dissertation research connected to the Center’s theme for the award year while participating in an interdisciplinary intellectual community. The Center’s annual topic is Practice for 2026–2027 and Empire for 2027–2028.
The fellowship combines individual research with scholarly exchange through the Mellon Research Seminar. Doctoral fellows join postdoctoral fellows, Penn and regional faculty fellows, and the Center’s director and topic director. Each doctoral fellow presents their research at one seminar session, responds to a colleague’s paper at another, and helps plan a one-day symposium on the annual topic.
