Description
The P.E.O. Scholar Awards are competitive, merit-based awards intended to recognize and encourage academic excellence and achievement by women in doctoral-level programs. Run by P.E.O. International and listed by UBC Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, the program provides partial support for study and research while recognizing scholars’ potential to make significant contributions to their fields or a positive impact on society.
The program spans varied fields rather than a single research discipline. P.E.O. Scholars have assumed leadership positions in university academics, scientific research, medicine, law, performing arts, international economics, history, literature and government. Selection considers scholarly accomplishments, academic performance, recommendations, career objectives and the nominee’s proposal.
