Summary: Bridge support for child neurology researchers resubmitting their first independent NIH R01 or CIHR Operating/Project proposal.
Key Information: Applicants must be Active Child Neurology Society members or have a membership application in process.
The Pediatric Epilepsy Research Foundation (PERF), in partnership with the Child Neurology Society (CNS), offers interim funding to retain promising investigators in child neurology research. The program supports clinical, translational, or basic research while investigators reapply for their first independent National Institutes of Health (NIH) or Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) research award after an unsuccessful application.
The award addresses the gap between an initial unfunded proposal and potential independent federal support, rather than providing ongoing funding for an already supported project. Its central goal is to keep investigators engaged in child neurology research during this transition. Bridge support is adjusted or closed out when NIH or CIHR funding becomes available.
