Description
Performing Arts Residencies is part of the New York State Council on the Arts’ Support for Targeted Opportunities. It supports New York-based nonprofit performing arts companies and ensembles undertaking extended residencies outside their home county and outside New York City. Residencies combine creative work, educational and community outreach, collaboration with local arts groups and individuals, and culminating public performances.
The program aims to develop performing arts audiences and strengthen host communities’ cultural resources. Priority goes to projects bringing underrepresented art forms and genres into communities and regions. NYSCA emphasizes a clear artistic and cultural vision, distinctive programming, meaningful creative contributions, and active relationships with local communities. Public-service priorities include reaching historically underrepresented communities, inclusive marketing, participation opportunities, and removing physical and other access barriers.
