Description
The Michael S. Pessin Stroke Leadership Prize is sponsored by the American Academy of Neurology and endowed by Dr. Pessin’s family, friends, and colleagues. It recognizes emerging neurologists who demonstrate a passion for learning and expanding stroke research, alongside active involvement in providing patients with the highest quality of compassionate care. The prize is intended to stimulate and reward individuals in the developmental stages of their careers.
Additional consideration is given to clinical research that enhances understanding of stroke or improves acute treatment protocols. Selection emphasizes independent contributions, innovative and clearly described research, appropriate statistical methodology, ethical considerations, and potential to fill a gap. The award also recognizes scientific integrity, academic excellence, scientific citizenship, professionalism, mentorship, and inspiration for future generations.
