--- ## Description The Peter Debye Award in Physical Chemistry, administered by the American Chemical Society (ACS), honors individuals who have made outstanding research contributions—either theoretical or experimental—in the field of physical chemistry. Established in 1960 and now permanently endowed, the award recognizes not only scientific excellence but also the broader impact of the recipient’s work, including mentorship and collegiality within the scientific community. The award is one of the highest honors in physical chemistry and is presented at the ACS National Meeting. --- ## Due Dates - **Nomination period:** July 1, 2024 – November 1, 2024 - **Deadline for all nomination materials:** November 1, 2024 - Award recipients will be announced the following August and honored at the ACS National Meeting. --- ## Funding Amount - **Award:** $5,000 honorarium and a certificate - **Travel:** Up to $2,500 reimbursed for travel expenses to attend the award ceremony at the ACS National Meeting --- ## Eligibility - Open to individuals who have accomplished outstanding research in physical chemistry (theoretical or experimental). - Consideration is also given to the nominee’s success as a mentor and colleague. - The award is open regardless of race, gender, age, religion, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, disability, or educational background. - Self-nominations are **not** accepted. - Nominations from previous years do not carry over; a new nomination must be submitted each cycle. - Nominators do not need to be ACS members, but selection committee and ACS Board members may not nominate or support nominations for awards they oversee. --- ## Application Process 1. **Prepare a Nomination:** Nominations must be submitted online during the nomination period.
