The Keats-Shelley Association of America (K-SAA) awards these annual grants to support research in Romantic-era literature and culture. Established in 2000, the program honors Carl H. Pforzheimer, Jr., the Association’s former president and benefactor. Supported work includes archival visits, manuscript consultations, and other investigative research; past recipients have traveled to archives in Ghana, Jamaica, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
Preference is given to projects involving subjects featured in The Keats-Shelley Journal, K-SAA’s annual publication. Projects need not be author-based or focus on Keats or the Shelleys. The Association especially encourages research that expands traditional definitions of Romantic studies and its futures, particularly through engagement with race, empire, gender, class, and global Romanticisms.
