Description
Wellcome’s PhD Fellowships for Health Professionals support doctoral research in centres of excellence throughout the UK. The programmes aim to create knowledge, build research capability and train a diverse group of future leaders in clinical academia. Fellows receive research opportunities alongside technical, discipline-specific and transferable skills training, within supportive and inclusive environments that promote a positive research culture.
Participating programmes cover mental health and neurosciences, multimorbidity, primary care, healthcare inequalities, underrepresented populations and diseases, health priorities in the Global South, and global health research in Africa. Individual universities and partnerships deliver the fellowships and recruit annually. Some programmes also offer pre- or post-PhD support. Fellowships can be undertaken part-time.
