Description
The Leverhulme Trust’s Philip Leverhulme Prizes recognise researchers at an early stage of their careers whose work has already had international impact and whose future research careers are exceptionally promising. Established in 2001, the prizes commemorate Philip Leverhulme, the Third Viscount Leverhulme and grandson of the Trust’s founder. They provide flexible support for advancing an individual prize winner’s research.
The scheme covers sciences, humanities, social sciences and arts, with six broad subject areas considered each year on a three-year rotation. The Trust prioritises investigations of a fundamental nature. It excludes studies of disease, illness and disabilities in humans and animals, and research intended to inform clinical practice or develop medical applications.
