    Description

The Neurological Foundation’s Philip Wrightson Fellowships provide personal salary support for outstanding postdoctoral researchers undertaking neurological research at institutions in New Zealand or internationally. Named after neurosurgeon Philip Wrightson, a founding member of the Foundation, the fellowships support research that adds to knowledge about diseases and disorders of the central and peripheral nervous systems. New Zealand-based fellowships must include significant international collaboration.

The Foundation supports work contributing to understanding, prevention, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment or management of neurological conditions. Research into the pathogenesis of neuropsychiatric and neuropsychological disorders is within scope, but projects concerned only with managing mental health disorders are excluded. The program emphasises impactful research, development of researchers’ skills and experience, and neuroscience capacity through training and collaboration.
