The Phortify Internship (Traineeship) Grants support learning-based placements that contribute to students’ academic and professional development in photonics. Placements must align with Phortify’s thematic areas and objectives and be implemented under a partner institution’s responsibility. These internships are educational activities, not employment. Phortify runs the call and pays awards directly, in its own name and under its own responsibility, through its European Commission-funded project.
The programme contributes to harmonising photonics education and training across Europe, combining practical experience with advanced learning and digital skills. Its funding framework seeks to widen participation, including among women and gender minorities, first-generation students, people with disabilities or support needs, students from disadvantaged backgrounds, and learners from regions with limited access to advanced higher education.
