Description
Mayo Clinic’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency in Jacksonville, Florida, operates in collaboration with Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital. It prepares physicians for careers in private practice, research, or academic medicine through a holistic, interdisciplinary approach to diagnosing, treating, and preventing disabilities. Training balances outpatient experience at Mayo Clinic with inpatient rehabilitation at Brooks, with the goal of helping patients achieve their maximum functional capacity and quality of life.
The curriculum includes musculoskeletal, spine, and pain medicine, diagnostic ultrasound, ultrasound-guided procedures, electromyography, pediatric rehabilitation, and neurologic rehabilitation. Residents develop clinical and academic abilities while designing and conducting scholarly research using resources at both institutions. Research projects frequently address musculoskeletal ultrasound, the epidemiology of specific disorders, or new rehabilitation interventions.
