Description
The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation’s Physician Investigator Research Award Program provides seed money to Michigan physicians exploring the merits of evidence-based research ideas. It supports pilot studies, feasibility studies, and small research projects focused on urgent health issues, health inequities, social determinants of health, and health care access, quality, and cost.
The program seeks innovative research with significance and value to the population, including work that could improve care quality and access. Previously funded projects have examined heart failure care, cancer screening, asthma interventions, blood pressure management, barriers to follow-up after abnormal cervical cancer screening, and long-term surgical outcomes. Other awards have supported research on Medicaid service delivery and hospital processes for safely reuniting children with their families.
