Description
The Dermatology Foundation’s Physician Scientist Career Development Award supports the academic careers of physician-scientists devoted to clinical dermatology. It helps clinically oriented investigators transition from fellowship to established investigator, with an emphasis on significant creativity in clinically relevant research and a strong commitment to skin research. The award provides salary support within the Foundation’s Research Award Program.
Supported research has explored melanoma immunotherapy, inflammatory skin disorders, scarring alopecias, epidermal homeostasis, and skin fibrosis. A featured recipient’s project investigates targeted immunotherapy for gamma-delta T-cell cancers and immune profiling in COVID-19, psoriasis, and lymphoma. These examples illustrate the program’s interest in investigations that advance dermatologic science and patient care.
