The Physiological Society’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Fund supports members running activities that promote and champion inclusion in physiology. Projects should directly investigate or address inclusion and diversity issues in physiological sciences teaching or research, helping embed these principles throughout the Society’s community and activities.
Supported approaches include raising awareness of unconscious bias, stereotype threat, microaggressions and inclusive teaching practices; targeted outreach and recruitment of underrepresented groups; mentorship and networking; and showcasing diverse role models. Activities may deliver resources or training for faculty, staff and students, partnerships with community organisations, schools and professional societies to promote physiology careers, or visibility campaigns highlighting diverse leaders’ achievements and contributions.
