The Physics Teacher Education Coalition (PhysTEC) provides short-term funding to member institutions to develop, expand, or pilot initiatives that strengthen local K–12 physics teacher communities. Led by the American Physical Society in partnership with the American Association of Physics Teachers, PhysTEC seeks to improve the education of future physics teachers. This program brings K–12 perspectives into higher education environments and builds connections between schools and universities.
Supported work includes partnerships between university faculty and local teachers, professional learning communities, teacher recruitment or support initiatives, and workshops or networking events. Projects may also create sustainable structures for ongoing school–university engagement. The emphasis is on local impact and stronger institutional pathways for preparing future physics teachers.
