Description
The Pilar Sáenz Annual Student Essay Prize recognizes the best student essay dealing with eighteenth-century Spain, Portugal, or Ibero-America. It is managed by the Ibero-American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (IASECS) and supported by the Ibero-American Society of Eighteenth Century Studies Fund, also known as the Ibero-American Society Fund.
The prize welcomes work in any academic discipline, including literature, history, art history, and anthropology. Essays may address any aspect of Iberian culture—including Spanish, Portuguese, and Catalan culture—or Latin American culture during the “long” eighteenth century, approximately 1680–1830. The award primarily recognizes graduate student scholarship, with advanced undergraduate papers also considered when supported by a supervising faculty member.
