Description
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Pilot and Feasibility Awards support basic science projects that develop and test new hypotheses or methods, including methods being applied to CF for the first time. The program also supports promising new investigators establishing themselves in CF research. High-risk, high-reward studies are encouraged, with the aim of generating data for subsequent applications to the National Institutes of Health or other funding agencies.
Proposed work must be hypothesis-driven and innovative, addressing critical questions about CF disease mechanisms or strategies to prevent or treat CF. Preliminary data are not required but will be evaluated if included. The program does not support continued funding, extensions of previous projects, or long-term investigator support. Interventional clinical research and research restoring CFTR function or fixing or replacing the CFTR gene belong under separate funding mechanisms.
