New Jersey Alliance for Clinical and Translational Science's Pilot Grants support investigators' collaborative research to move biomedical discoveries toward clinical applications and independent research funding.
Funder: New Jersey Alliance for Clinical and Translational Science
Due Dates (Anticipated): February 2027 (Letter of intent) | March 2027 (Application)
Funding Amounts: CTS: up to $40,000 | CTR: $50,000–$100,000 (Rutgers), $50,000 (NJIT), one-year projects
Summary: NJ ACTS pilot grants support collaborative clinical and translational work that moves biomedical discoveries toward clinical applications and sustained extramural funding.
Key Information: Studies meeting the NIH definition of a clinical trial cannot receive this funding.
The New Jersey Alliance for Clinical and Translational Science (NJ ACTS) Pilot Program fosters innovative research among Rutgers University, Princeton University, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), with engagement from health system partner RWJBarnabas Health. Supported by the NIH CTSA award, the New Jersey Health Foundation, and the academic partners, the program helps investigators establish a path toward independently supported research.
Clinical and Translational Research (CTR) pilots generate preliminary data, advance clinically relevant discoveries, and encourage innovations with commercialization potential. Clinical Translational Science (CTS) pilots address challenges in the translational research pipeline through scientific, operational, financial, or administrative innovations. CTS funding provides initial resources for initiatives that can compete for expanded NJ ACTS-related support or independent research and career development grants.
