Description
The AASLD Foundation, supported by the Jou Family Memorial Fund, funds small-scale exploratory research in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This project-based award supports basic science and clinical, translational, and outcomes research with clear potential for high-impact results but little or no preliminary data. It is intended for new ideas or approaches, not ongoing laboratory research, and helps investigators generate data for longer-term grant applications.
Preference is given to HCC biomarker research and highly innovative, high-risk/high-reward projects. Clinical, translational, and outcomes interventions addressing disparities in healthcare access or quality receive priority consideration. Operational and clinical interventions are assessed for generalizability to other institutions; approaches dependent on infrastructure unique to one center receive lower priority.
