Description
AASLD Foundation supports highly innovative, small-scale exploratory research across all aspects of liver disease. The award funds new ideas or approaches with high-impact potential but little or no preliminary data, rather than extending ongoing laboratory research. Its goal is to help investigators test ideas or methods and gather sufficient data for longer-term grant applications.
Clinical/Translational/Outcomes Research and Basic Science Research are evaluated independently, with separate funding reserved for each category. Highly innovative, high-risk/high-reward projects receive priority. Within clinical, translational, and outcomes research, interventions addressing disparities in healthcare access or quality receive priority consideration. Operational and clinical interventions are also assessed for their potential to apply at other institutions; interventions dependent on infrastructure unique to one center receive lower priority.
