    Description

The Emergency Medicine Foundation (EMF) provides starter funding for preliminary studies that establish a research direction, support a larger project, and lead to subsequent K or R grant funding. The program supports clinical, translational, and basic science research with the potential to meaningfully improve emergency care. Feasibility studies and high-risk, high-reward projects are encouraged, as are partnerships between research universities and community emergency departments and engagement with operational and policy partners.

Every proposal must identify and justify its primary EMF priority: measurable improvements in patient care; workforce, policy, and systems readiness; anticipation of healthcare delivery changes; rural and urban underserved settings; or basic science and translational research connected to improved patient care. Applicants are encouraged to explain how the pilot will lead to further work.
