Description
NSF EPSCoR supports institutions and organizations planning future submissions to the E-RISE RII and E-CORE RII programs. These planning awards emphasize new collaborations and partnerships that can underpin complex, jurisdiction-wide, four-year research infrastructure or research and education projects aligned with the jurisdiction’s approved Science and Technology (S&T) plan. They support planning rather than seed research.
E-RISE planning focuses on a selected scientific topic, existing research capacity and infrastructure, coordination of future research efforts, and workforce needs. E-CORE planning brings together multidisciplinary expertise and organizations to develop management approaches, identify infrastructure needs, and coordinate capacity building across the research ecosystem. Activities can include participant gatherings, resource assessments, sustainability analysis, risk management, and plans for collaboration among institutions.
