Description
The PMR Sports Medicine Fellowship at Mayo Clinic Square in Minneapolis is a one-year, ACGME-accredited program designed for physicians seeking advanced training in primary care sports medicine and musculoskeletal physiatry. Sponsored by Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine (Department of Orthopedic Surgery), the fellowship provides comprehensive clinical experience managing sports, fitness, and recreational injuries, with rotations across pediatric and orthopedic sports medicine, musculoskeletal radiology, emergency medicine, sports cardiology, vascular medicine, sports pulmonology, physical therapy, nutrition, psychology, and strength and conditioning.
Fellows receive hands-on exposure through coverage of professional and amateur sports teams and events—including the Minnesota Timberwolves, Lynx, Twins, local universities, and high school leagues. The program emphasizes advanced diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal ultrasound, regenerative medicine techniques, and robust research support.
