Description
The Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Foundation (PMSF) Research Grants Program accelerates clinical and basic research addressing the most urgent needs of the Phelan-McDermid syndrome community. The program supports highly motivated scientists pursuing innovative projects that advance the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of Phelan-McDermid syndrome (PMS), including laboratory-based foundational research and clinical studies in affected individuals. Each application is rigorously evaluated for scientific merit and alignment with community priorities by a panel of scientific advisors and family members. Major recurring awards include the $100,000 Shannon O'Boyle Memorial Grant for Neuropsychiatric Illness, the Innovation Award for novel and understudied areas, and the Translational Research Award for projects bridging pilot data to new therapeutics or assessments. Occasional fellowships may also be available. The ultimate goal is to foster discoveries that improve quality of life and lead toward effective therapies or cures for PMS.
