The Points North Fellowship, run by Points North Institute, brings together up to six teams of early to mid-career filmmakers from around the world to develop feature documentaries. The program supports artists pushing the boundaries of nonfiction cinema, helping them refine their artistic goals, deepen their storytelling vision, and build collaborative relationships within the independent filmmaking industry.
The fellowship begins with in-person workshops in Maine ahead of the Camden International Film Festival. Fellows share work samples, work with mentors and peers, and refine their pitches and creative strategies. The workshops culminate in the live Points North Pitch, where teams present to funders, broadcasters, producers, and distributors. Tailored support and virtual one-to-one industry meetings follow in the weeks afterward, connecting filmmakers with potential partners for their films and careers.
