The Pomerance Award for Scientific Contributions to Archaeology is presented annually by the Archaeological Institute of America to honor individuals or teams whose interdisciplinary scientific research has led to significant advances in archaeology. The award celebrates innovative work in scientific methodologies, analytical techniques, and collaborative research that addresses major archaeological questions. Recognized achievements often include, but are not limited to, organic residue analysis, radiocarbon dating, paleoethnobotany, archaeometry, and other scientific approaches that have contributed to breakthroughs in archaeological knowledge and practice.
