Description
The Institute for Advanced Study’s School of Mathematics offers approximately 35 stipendiary post-doctoral memberships each year. The program supports researchers in all areas of mathematics and theoretical computer science, giving successful candidates the freedom to devote themselves full-time to research. Memberships provide one or two years of research support rather than funding for a prescribed topic.
Within theoretical computer science and discrete mathematics, supported subjects include computational complexity, algorithms, optimization, cryptography, combinatorics and graph theory, and discrete probability. These examples do not limit the program’s broader scope. The School also offers separate joint appointments with partner institutions, which have their own application requirements and appointment arrangements.
