Description
The Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA) offers this award to expand and retain young investigators in the Friedreich’s ataxia (FA) biomedical research field. It supports work spanning basic research, drug development, and clinical research, connecting studies of disease pathology with efforts to develop treatments and a cure.
Projects must align with at least one FARA research priority. These encompass neuroscience and affected systems, cardiac disease, the molecular basis of FA, drug discovery, translational research and drug development, and clinical research. The award also emphasizes career development: applicants describe their future involvement in FA research and how the proposed project, research environment, and mentoring will support their goals. Competitive candidates demonstrate qualities that strengthen FARA’s efforts to understand FA and advance therapeutic development.
