Description
The Montana Potato Research & Market Development Program supports demonstration projects, applied research, and market development addressing needs and opportunities in Montana’s potato industry. Created by a vote of Montana potato producers, it is administered by the Montana Department of Agriculture with advice from the seven-member Montana Potato Advisory Committee. The program promotes scientific and practical research into potato production, culture, marketing, and market development.
Supported work includes improving seed potato quality, controlling diseases and pests, improving growing practices, disseminating research findings, and conducting publicity or sales promotion campaigns. Proposals generally must offer practical, near-term applications that can expand the potato industry. Research priorities include potato pathogens and their vectors, agronomic practices, insect and weed management, and on-farm research.
