Description
The Powdered Metals Program is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) through its Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI). It supports training programs and academic courses for the existing regional workforce, with goals of expanding academic, educational, and technical outreach to the powdered metals and related manufacturing community in north central Pennsylvania.
Training is supported through Penn State, regional community education councils, and local school districts. Facilities include the Penn State DuBois laboratory, St. Marys High School’s metalworking facilities, and Jeff Tech Area Vocational Technical School. The program seeks to strengthen technical knowledge, improve process and product capabilities, and support entry into new markets for powdered metal components through cooperative university and industry activity.
