This fellowship recognizes and supports a pre-doctoral student whose research addresses diseases or health challenges that disproportionately impact under-served populations in the United States, or projects aimed at reducing healthcare disparities and improving health outcomes for these groups. Relevant research areas include, but are not limited to, sickle-cell anemia, asthma, HIV/AIDS, maternal and infant mortality, and access to medication. The fellowship is intended to advance the careers of outstanding students committed to research that positively impacts public health and addresses inequities in healthcare.
