Description
The New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development’s Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS) funds providers to deliver paid work-based learning experiences within its Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) program. Students with disabilities ages 16–21 receive 150 hours of competitive integrated work experience aligned with their vocational interests and career goals, preceded and followed by three weeks of career preparation services.
Preparation and follow-up cover job exploration counseling, workplace readiness, self-advocacy, and counseling on post-secondary enrollment. The program builds foundational employment skills, reinforces workplace behaviors, and helps students explore viable careers. Providers also expand outreach and collaboration among DVRS, schools, families, employers, and workforce partners. Follow-up services help providers and DVRS determine whether students need additional transition support.
