    Description

The Alcohol Research Group (ARG), in partnership with UC Berkeley’s School of Public Health, offers predoctoral research training through the NIAAA-funded “Graduate Research Training in Alcohol Problems: Alcohol-Related Disparities” program. The fellowship supports basic and applied socio-behavioral and epidemiological research on alcohol and drug use, related problems, and treatment, with health disparities as a central theme.

Fellows receive individualized mentorship, participate in the Advanced Alcohol Research Seminar, and conduct research at ARG or collaborating institutions. Training includes research methods, publications, grant development, career planning, and project management. Fellows also have access to statistical seminars and expert consultation, conference support, and professional development funds. The program aims to help trainees acquire new skills, build collegial relationships, and move toward research independence.
