Summary: Supports research into prehistory worldwide, prioritising small-scale projects unlikely to attract significant funding from major sources.
Key Information: Applicants must be members of The Prehistoric Society before submitting.
The Prehistoric Society’s Research Fund assists research into prehistory in any part of the world. It favours small-scale projects that are less likely to attract significant support from other major funding sources. Excavation funding is limited to the assessment stage, although the Society may consider a separate application for post-excavation work in the following year.
Alongside the general fund, the Society administers the Bob Smith Fund and the Leslie Grinsell & James Dyer Award. These associated awards support projects closest to the research interests of the individuals they commemorate. Applicants are considered through their general Research Fund application, without needing to submit separate applications.
