Description
The American Physiological Society (APS) Presidential Service Award honors a member whose sustained volunteer contributions demonstrate exceptional commitment to the Society and the broader physiology community. Rather than funding a defined research project, it recognizes extensive service throughout a member’s career, with a focus on mid-career to established professionals.
Recognized service includes editing or reviewing for APS journals, serving on Society committees, and providing long-term leadership in sections or interest groups. Participation in task forces, special projects, and outreach to scientists or the general public also contributes to the award’s service focus. Nominations are evaluated on volunteer service to the Society and scientific community, and the recipient is recognized at the American Physiology Summit.
