Description
The President’s Academic Excellence Initiative PhD Awards (PAEIPA), provided by UBC Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, offer tuition support in recognition of doctoral students’ significant contributions to the university’s research activities. The initiative supports new and continuing PhD students, with award amounts determined by citizenship, tuition assessment, doctoral year, and enrollment status.
The awards recognize research across disciplines rather than a single subject or project theme. Featured award holders work on topics ranging from Indigenous sovereignty and collaborative wildlife monitoring to breast cancer therapeutics, migration, mental health disability, school-based social and emotional learning, and museum policy.
