The President's Academic Excellence Initiative PhD Awards (PAEIPA) aim to recognize the significant research contributions of PhD students at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Each year, approximately $4.3 million is allocated to support both new and continuing PhD students from all disciplines. The awards are distributed in three equal instalments throughout the academic year (September, January, and May) and are available to students who are assessed tuition at UBC, reflecting the university's commitment to fostering academic excellence and supporting scholarly pursuits.
