Description

The Vermont Community Foundation’s News & Community Collaboration program supports creative partnerships between Vermont-based nonprofit or governmental community organizations and Vermont-based news or information providers. Supported collaborations can pilot new models or expand existing efforts to reach new audiences and create community-informed content while maintaining journalistic independence and integrity. The program is part of the National Press Forward Initiative and is funded by donors and fundholders contributing to the Press Forward Vermont pooled fund.

Priority goes to projects addressing community needs, challenges, or opportunities identified in the Vermont News & Information Ecosystem Report. Activities may include community listening sessions, outreach with non-traditional leaders, new media formats, community journalist training, and community-created newsletters, columns, podcasts, or audio stories. The goal is more accessible, solutions-oriented local news that reflects community needs, strengthens relationships with underserved communities, and broadens coverage.
