Description
The Utah State Board of Education administers this competitive grant to help local education agencies (LEAs) bring school-based prevention activities together under a comprehensive plan. Funding supports Tier 1 and Tier 2 work that addresses locally documented needs, reduces risk factors, and builds protective factors for students.
Supported activities include implementing the prevention plan, prevention-focused parent seminars, professional learning in prevention science, and supplies and materials for prevention programs. LEAs may also propose other evidence-based prevention practices authorized by the board. The plan must connect prevention strategies with substance use prevention, suicide prevention, and positive behaviors plans.
