The New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (NYS OASAS) funds community-based prevention providers to prevent, reduce, and delay gambling-related harms, from youth through older adults. The program supports a comprehensive response grounded in the local conditions contributing to gambling harms within each community.
Funded providers conduct a comprehensive needs assessment, then implement Environmental Change Strategies (ECS) and other evidence-based prevention strategies addressing the conditions identified. The goal is to develop sustainable community programming specifically focused on gambling harm prevention and risk reduction, rather than expanding other substance use or behavioral health services.
