Description
Priority Programmes are coordinated research programmes run by the German Research Foundation (DFG). They support important new topics expected to have a formative impact on science or the humanities, with particular potential for interdisciplinary research. Nationwide collaboration is a defining feature: networking across locations should create scientific value beyond work at individual institutions. The DFG Senate establishes programmes where coordinated support promises particular scientific gain.
Programmes bring together coherent research activities addressing original questions in their topics or methods, with connections to the international research system. They also support researchers in early career phases and tailored equity measures, particularly those promoting female researchers and family-friendly opportunities. Funding encompasses research projects, coordination, workshops, science communication and international cooperation.
