Private Well Outreach 2027 is a New Jersey Department of Health grant supporting local municipal and county health departments in conducting and improving private well outreach and education. Funding supports plans to improve, enhance, or continue these efforts in the communities each department serves. The program focuses on domestic private wells and community education rather than a separate research initiative.
The Department’s broader Private Well Outreach Project targets New Jersey communities and neighborhoods where well water may be contaminated, using testing data and knowledge of geological risk factors to identify areas of concern. It develops testing and outreach strategies with local community members, environmental commissions, school boards, township committee members, and local health department officials. The Environmental and Occupational Health Surveillance Program is the grant’s program contact.
